Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College – JNMC (Belagavi) :
JNMC is run by the Karnataka liberal Education Society. The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College was established in the year 1963, at Belagavi and is the only quality medical educational institute in South India. The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) which was one of the constituent colleges of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, is now under KAHE i.e. Karnataka Academy for Higher Education, a deemed University, Faculty of Medicine. This College is affiliated to Medical Council of India. It also has students from U.S.A., U.K., Malaysia and the Middle East. The university campus is 3 km away from the main city. The special feature of this College is that it is one of the few medical colleges in this country entirely under the University administration.
The programmes offered here are : Under-Graduate Course, B.Sc., M.B.B.S., Bachelor of Physiotheraphy-(B.P.T.), Post-Graduate Course, M.D. and M.S., M.Sc. in Hospital Management, Master of Physiotheraphy – (M.P.T.). The Indian Medical Council recognizes the MBBS degree of this University. The main College building, the Hospital, the Residential Hostel (Hadi Hasan Hall and S. N. Halls) for students and the residences for the staff (Medical Colony) are located in one campus. The facilities provided by this college are :Unique Digital Library for the first time in India, a medical Education cell providing regular workshops for teachers, Silver Jubilee Guest House for visitors along with 8 other hostels for students.
It offers MBBS course of Four and Half Years and One Year compulsory rotating internship course. It also provides under-graduate and post-graduate medical education and research facilities in the College and the attached Hospital. Considering the admisions, it is open for both male and female candidates satisfying educational requirements of the University. Admission to the1st year MBBS is limited to 150 students.
